Scholarships from the B.J. Hickey Biblical Foundation are offered to lay people, including Religious Sisters and Brothers, residing in the Archdiocese of Perth. They are for biblical studies of any length at any level, locally or overseas (such as Jerusalem or Rome). You don’t need to be an academic – just someone with a desire to know the Scriptures better and to help others with that knowledge.
The Patron of the B.J. Hickey Biblical Foundation is Emeritus Archbishop of Perth Barry James Hickey. Archbishop Hickey comments that he established the Foundation “to assist lay people to undertake deeper biblical studies wherever in the world they would like to pursue them. The scholarships are not available to priests as they have their own sources of funding for courses” The Archbishop goes on to explain, “The overall purpose of the Foundation is to draw more people to know and love the Word of God, to make it an integral part of their prayer life and to share their enthusiasm with others.”
