Though sometimes seen as a complex philosophical concept of God, the heart of understanding the Trinity lies in God’s self-revelation in the person of Jesus Christ. This course will examine how we come to understand God as Trinitarian and what significance this holds for our contemporary faith. To gain a proper understanding of the Trinity, three stages will be followed: (1) Biblical foundations; (2) Development in the patristic period and medieval theology; and (3) Contemporary retrieval of the doctrine.
