This course takes students through the Saint Pope John Paul II’s classic work Love and Responsibility, which was the foundation of his philosophy and Theology of the Body. Students will be immersed in Saint Pope John Paul II’s inspiring vision of the human person and what this means for understanding Christian freedom, love and responsibility. This will include discussions on his concept of ‘the primacy of the person’ and how this informs living out our sexual drive, attraction and eros, true friendship, chastity, romantic and married love, single life, celibacy and authentic justice, not in derision and shame but in freedom and felicity with the real grace of God, as lived in the life of Christ and the Saints.
