This course takes students through the social doctrine of the Church, which flows from understanding the human person as the image of God, infinitely loved and made for eternal life in Christ. Students will learn the main tenets and principles of the Church’s social teaching, in particular, the Catholic understanding of justice, love, truth, freedom, respect for the dignity of human life, the common good, subsidiarity, solidarity, and how this impacts understanding the family, human work, politics, economic life, culture, the environment and the achievement of peace in society.
