Adult Faith Formation Goes Country

The team from the Centre for Faith Enrichment (CFE) recently spent a week visiting rural parts of the Archdiocese.

“As the official Archdiocesan adult faith formation agency, we are mandated to serve the adult faith formation needs of people throughout the Archdiocese of Perth,” Director Dr Michelle Jones said, “and we are especially keen to be of service to people in rural areas.”

Taking in Mundaring, Northam, Kellerberrin, Merredin, Bruce Rock, Quairading, Trayning, Bencubbin and culminating with a stall at the Dowerin Field Day, CFE’s country tour particularly focussed on promoting one of the Centre’s new means of adult faith formation – short online courses.

CFE’s rural ministry is a collaboration with the long-standing ministry of the MacKillop Rural Network.

“Sisters such as Leonie Mayne and Gemma Scott have been serving people in the country for many years, and it is a privilege for the Centre for Faith Enrichment to minister with them,” said Dr Jones.

A key aspect of the CFE’s brief rural sojourn was to listen to the faith formation needs expressed by the people.

“We learnt much from the trip,” Dr Jones commented, “and we look forward to continuing the dialogue.”
