Rediscovering the New Testament: A Journey through mystery, meaning and translation

One Off Event
Monday 16th September
9.30am - 11.30am
Dr Peter Christofides
Newman Siena Centre (Clune Lecture Theatre)

Originally written in Greek, the New Testament constitutes that part of the Bible which discloses the figure of Jesus Christ to us. What is the meaning of the New Testament? Why is it so important to us as Christians? Most of our English translations of the Bible are great interpretations of the original Hebrew or Greek. However, in any translation, not everything that was communicated in the original language can be precisely conveyed in another. As a result, a translation rarely is a perfect version of the original. How do we “bridge the gap” and what mysteries can the original Greek language of the New Testament disclose to us? Join us to find out! CEWA Ongoing Renewal: this course has been approved for Knowledge.
